“Tetreo Hotel” is a luxury hotel concept design project anchored by two look books that describe the hotel’s wonderful features and its iconic golf course. As the hotel was chosen to be nestled in the serene coastal town of Dana Point, California, this project was designed to be a beacon of luxury and beauty. The name ‘Tetreo’ is a play on the word ‘tetra’, symbolizing the four pillars of the design ethos created in the ideation phase: Luxury, Serenity, Harmony, and Nature. Every design element in the look books, from the layout and typeface selection to the color palette, photography, and illustrations, was chosen and created with this specific ethos in mind. The logo, a stylized representation of the Quail Bird, captures the essence of California’s wildlife acts as a distinguished symbol to represent the hotel.

As it is the hotel’s premier feature, a lot of thought was put into the concept of the golf course and how it was going to be conveyed in its look book. In keeping up with the design ethos pillar of “nature”, the concept for the golf course is meant to represent “A journey from desert to tropics”. The golf course at Tetreo begins in the arid beauty of a desert-themed front nine, transitioning seamlessly into the lush, vibrant greens of a tropical back nine.

The golf course’s desert and tropical theme inspired the creation of distinctive illustrative branding elements: the cactus, the tropical flower, and the bird’s nest. These elements come together to truly solidify the design of the two lookbooks, making them pop, and conveying both the hotel’s scenic location and the inherent beauty of its surroundings. They also highlight the dual-themed golf course, the hotel’s most important feature. Together, they encapsulate the selected design ethos, leading to the final design of the two lookbooks that exude luxury and invite onlookers to book a stay and experience all that Tetreo has to offer.
